The Unbreakable Doffad

The point, the real point of installing an unbreakable doffad was not the centre of Jesp’s attention. She was far more concerned about the process of installing it. The corners A, B and C of the doffad had to match with the corners A, A and A of the doffad-frame. At least this was Jesp’s initial intention. After spending days and weeks under the giant body of the doffad, he began to understand that his (or hers, if you prefer) original plan was not free from failure. The corners turned out to be exactly the same as in a dream that they (Jesp, Kjo, Kitun, Sajko and Upo) had synchronically had in the spring of 1988 (the year of the great owl in the country of Seinvakt. That is, they dreamt it synchronically to the extent that they all died that night. At least this was Professor Lesa’s conclusion. Professor Lesa had spent every afternoon in the period of 12.03.87-13.03.87, to figure out what really happened on that very night. This, of course made his results a bit unlikely, since he finished his research project more than one year before the earlier incident occurred. Nevertheless, Lesa kept on publishing an unbroken chain of books on his disclosures. Two days before the first book was to be found in the stores, Lesa was arrested. This, however, did not keep him from publishing books. He wrote the manuscripts on kittens, that he threw out of the window on the 7th floor of the prison. (No, Lesa was no terrible animal-hater: He gently strangled the kittens after tattooing the manuscripts on their eyeballs, so that they would not suffer from hitting the ground.) Finally, Jesp could easily make the corners fit together. This was real love...
