Stories From The Head

The Old Bastard

As he stood at the corner of Sema-street and Pupp Avenue, Vesso heard a calm and quiet noise coming from the shop nearby. He tried to ignore it, but it was no use. He ran extremely fast to the door of the shop (which, as a matter of fact was a knitting-equipment store, a wild coincidence...or maybe not). He rang the bell and an old man appeared in the window. ”Are you the manager?” the old bastard asked. This took Vesso by total surprise. That was what HE was going to say. Hmmm...”No, are you?” he replied after an insanely short silence. ”Yes” the old guy answered. Wow. There were too many coincidences here. This intrigued Vesso, and he used his shoulder to persuade the door to open. It worked. He ran up the stairs, and was met by the old man and about 37 other elderly people. ”Vesso! I am Nenn. We have been expecting you!”. As he felt his life-force disappear and he fell to the floor, Vesso noticed a picture of him on the wall together with all the elderly people...but THEY WERE YOUNG. He cried as he remembered what his mother always used to tell him as a child: ”Svenom, Vesso. Always Svenom”. Then he was no more...
